The Brut Reserve is a composition of Chardonnay and Pinot wines from various vineyards that are matured to perfection. The blend consists of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot. Interestingly, Chardonnay proportions are not usually as high amongst great champagnes. It encompasses a brilliant color with golden straw yellow properties. It has an impressive nose that is open and has fruity and bready characteristics. It emanates aromas of white flowers, peach and vanilla pod. The palate is greeted with a harmonious fresh wine that combines flavors of honey and fruit.

A deep, dark centered wine with sweet blackberry and smokiness aromas on the nose that follow through nicely to the palate. This is then completed by a round finish and soft tannins.The firm, medium bodied structure will hold up the wine for 3-4 years. Ready to drink now or can be matured for at least another two to three years.

The wine is a deep purple colour. The nose is reminiscent of blackberry and liquorice with a cracked pepper spice overtone.The palate is rich and rounded with soft tannins providing a lingering fruit driven finish. Well integrated French and American oak contributes to the wines generous mouth feel and soft finish.

Straw Pale in colour.On the nose, lifted passionfruit, honeysuckle and nettle aromas.Concentrated tropical and citrus notes lead to a perfect finish with crisp mouth-watering acidity.The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc harvest started a little later than usual on the 30th March. April gave Mud House perfect harvest conditions and they picked their last block on the 23rd of April. After harvesting the grapes, they were transported to the winery and crushed with minimal skin contact to avoid juice deterioration. After settling, each batch was cool fermented in stainless steel using a variety of cultured yeasts to add complexity to the blend and to retain fresh fruit characteristics. The wines were blended shortly after the completion of fermentation, then carefully balanced and prepared for bottling.A quarter of the fruit for this wine was sourced from the Mud House Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley. The remainder is from carefully selected grower vineyards in the Awatere, Ure, and Wairau valleys.An unusually wet February and early March had Mud House a little worried at the beginning of the season. However the weather gods were on their side and seven weeks of near perfect weather followed through to harvest. The warm days and cool nights in April presented ideal ripening conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes ripened slowly giving fantastic acid structure and plenty of vibrant flavours!
