For more than 300 years, before the days of Admiral Nelson, wooden ships and iron men, the sailors of Britain's Royal Navy were issued a daily ration of rum by the ship's 'Purser'. This tradition, one of the longest and un-broken in the history of the sea, carried forward from the year 1655 to August 1st 1970. The superb rum in this bottle is the same rum that was standard issue aboard their Majesties' ships at the time of the custom's termination in 1970. For centuries, British Navy Jack Tars drank their Pusser's Rum and appreciated this spirit's exceptional quality. The superb rum in this bottle has not only been aged in wood for 15 years, but has also been distilled in wood.It is the world's only rum, or for that matter the world's only spirit, that is still distilled in wood using the old, inefiicient, handcrafted way in opposition to the modern method that employs semi-automatic metal column distillation. For 330 years from about 1640 until July 31st, 1970, Great Britain's Royal Navy issued a daily rum ration to the sailors on board its ships. The daily ration was known as a tot, and its issue and the ritual that went with it was one of the longest and unbroken traditions in the history of the sea.The rum used was a special rum called Navy or Admiralty Rum, or Pussers. Pussers being a corruption of the word pirser, after the officer in charge of the ship's supplies. Pussers Navy Rum today is the identical rum that was issued in the Royal Navy right up until the time of the custom's termination on July 31st, 1970. Pussers is known for both its colourful history and its rich flavour. It was never sold or available to the public until 1979. If a connoiseur obtained a tot or two, he valued it for a very special occasion because there was nothing else like it.The Pussers 15 year old is exceptional and equivalent to the finest cognac or brandy in every way. Interestingly, at the end of 15 years of aging in wood, only about 7% of the original rum remains in the barrel. the balance will have evaporated into the air. Thus it toof the equivalent of about 16 bottles of rum to produce this single bottle of 15 year old Pussers!This rum is truly for sipping, as you would a fine cognac. It is best enjoyed slighlty chilled at about 13C to 16C or 55F to 60F.

70cl 60% abv Nemesinthe absinthe is the product of development between Liqueurs de France and an innovative Swiss company which was commissioned to co-develop a modern absinthe aimed at contemporary drinkers. Nemesinthe absinthe is produced at the Timbermill Distillery in South West London, famous for producing Bacardi's new ultra-premium Oxley gin. Nemesinthe is a link with history, a drink that conjures up the romance of the Belle Époque, with a fresh taste and original kick that will appeal to modern drinkers. Nemesinthe absinthe is best enjoyed mixed with three to five measures of cold water and can be used as the base of traditional and modern absinthe cocktails. Pour 1 measure of Nemesinthe absinthe into a tall, stemmed glass and slowly add three to four measures of chilled water. If desired the water can be poured over a sugar cube placed on a slotted absinthe spoon.

The voyage was a difficult one. Ninety-one consecutive days of calm left the crew and passengers in dire straits and the charter of Mercury was fast running out. The ship eventually made port in St. Georges, Bermuda, where Gosling and his family decided to set up shop rather than press on to America.James Gosling opened a shop on King's Parade, St George's in December 1806. To this day the company remains the oldest surviving business in Bermuda and is still a family concern.The corks were secured in place with the use of black sealing wax, prompting people to refer to the brand as "Black Seal."
